MAPPED aims to enhance patient education and safety across The Ottawa Hospital’s maternal newborn service line. By creating two patient-centric educational videos, the project seeks to offer accessible, comprehensive, and consistent discharge teachings.
This approach can optimize patient education, streamline nurse-patient interactions, and support professional development by promoting patient-centered practices. Improved discharge teachings may reduce the risk of readmission and post-discharge concerns, positively impacting patient experience and safety. The project’s impact could extend to improving patient care, nursing practice, and work environment satisfaction. Additionally, it could pioneer educational videos at discharge, encouraging similar initiatives and enhancing patient outcomes across healthcare settings.
