Ping Zou is a doctoral student at the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, UofT. Her doctoral research is a randomized controlled trial to test the feasibility and potential effects of Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension and Sodium (Na) Reduction for Chinese Canadians (DASHNa-CC) in a community setting. DASHNa-CC is a culturally sensitive dietary educational intervention incorporating the DASH diet, sodium reduction and the food therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Targeting Chinese Canadians, the intervention will be delivered to a Chinese Canadian community by a nurse in Mandarin. This study will contribute to scientific evidence of culturally sensitive care and guide design of dietary educational interventions for minority populations in community settings.
