Ola Abanta Thomas Obewu is a final year BScN student at York University and currently consolidating in the Emergency Department of Mackenzie Health Hospital.
Ola’s passion and interests lie in social activism, advocacy, research, and lifelong learning. Ola is actively involved in various extracurricular activities in her school and the nursing community. Ola sits as a panel member on the Black Nurses Task Force of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) and is a founding member of RNAO’s Black Nurses Leading Change Interest Group. Throughout her years in nursing school, Ola has volunteered as the program/course representative, peer mentor/tutor, skills lab facilitator etc. In the near future, Ola hopes to earn a Nurse Practitioner Degree as she continues to engage in movements that amplify the voices of marginalized communities within society.
