Ayla Jacquard (she/her) is a third year BScN student at the University of Ottawa. She worked at the Ottawa Birth and Wellness Centre alongside the

midwives in Ottawa to provide out of hospital labour and birth support to birthing people in the region. This work confirmed how vital it is to be part of fostering a safe environment for families to welcome their babies in a trusted and empowering way. Ayla grew up in Nunavut and hopes to return to the north and work as a RN to provide holistic, culturally safe and trauma informed care in rural Indigenous communities.
