Nurses Changing the Game: Innovation & Impact

We welcome a panel of three nurse innovators, supported by RNFOO funding, whose ideas and projects are changing nursing practice, discharge education, and investment in new staff orientation practices. Discover how they turned challenges into opportunities, pushed the boundaries of nursing, and are shaping the future of healthcare with their visionary projects.

Meagan Cutler

Daniela Acosta is a certified Gerontological Nurse who has worked at Perley Health since 2013.  Her current position is Manager of Education and Knowledge Translation. In this role, Daniela promotes leadership and learning in long-term care across multiple disciplines. She is recognized for finding innovative ways to utilize best practices in order to drive change.

Samantha Beltran is a passionate Mother-Baby Registered Nurse at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH). She studied at the University of Ottawa in 2022, doing her consolidation placement on the TOH Mother-Baby units, and moving into employment there soon after graduation. Samantha has excellent patient care and team skills with an outgoing and exuberant attitude.

Meagan Cutler has been a Registered Nurse since 2006 and a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2017. In that time she has worked in multiple settings; intensive care, emergency, primary care and community health in remote parts of Canada and various developing countries with Doctors without Borders, including Democratic Republic of Congo and Chad.  She is currently working as a nurse practitioner in a locum setting in northern Ontario and managing her business, Primary Care Solutions, which provides training to primary care providers, empowering them to work within their full scope of practice.
