In recognition of her tireless commitment to the Foundation, Michelle Connell was named an RNFOO Honorary Lifetime Member in 2022. The presentation of this award was made by Krista Kamstra-Cooper, who noted that Michelle had interviewed her when she applied to Centennial’s nursing program and was one of her early mentors.
Michelle has been an incredible nurse leader throughout her academic roles as well as a leader on voluntary boards for both Sigma Theta Tau and RNFOO.
Michelle has been a true example of teaching excellence in her career at Centennial College. She was involved in the development and launch of the Ryerson University – Centennial College – George Brown College Collaborative BScN program in 2001.
Michelle was a member of the RNFOO Board of Directors from 2010 to 2021 and President of the Board from 2016 to 2018. She was a member of the Gala committee from 2012 to 2021 serving as Chair from 2014 to 2016 and was a member of the NIA Development Committee. While serving in these roles, she also found time to be a reviewer for the annual RNFOO award applications. Michelle’s wisdom, insight and leadership in her work with RNFOO has been a strength for the organization and contributed to its success.
Even after completing her term as RNFOO President in 2018, Michelle has remained a steadfast support to those who have followed her as a past president. She has been an incredibly valuable sounding board, always putting the success of RNFOO front and centre. Michelle is compassionate and thoughtful, as well as creative and hardworking. All of these traits were evident in her work with RNFOO.
Through all of her nursing education advocacy, Michelle is most deserving of a RNFOO honorary membership.
