About Soch Mental Health
Soch Mental Health is a community mental health promotion initiative aimed at providing the South Asian (SA) community with culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health information. Co-founders of SOCH Mental Health Jasmeet Chagger (RN, MSc) and Maneet Chahal (RN, MSc) are passionate mental health change-markers, trailblazing to put South Asian mental health in the spotlight. The not-for-profit organization aims to empower community members to recognize and accept mental health as an essential part of their wellness through education, prevention, and building resilience.
About the Team

Maneet Chahal (RN, BScN, MScN) and & Jasmeet Chagger (RN, BScN, MScN) are two passionate community change-makers. They have over 8 years of mental health nursing experience and have closely witnessed their family and friends struggle with mental illness.
Along with working in the field of mental health, Maneet finished her Masters of Nursing in 2018 which looked at the South Asian Punjabi community’s experience of accessing mental health services for depression in the Region of Peel.
Jasmeet’s Masters of Science in Nursing thesis explores the perceptions of alcohol use and the experience of Punjabi families impacted by problem drinking.
Best friends for many years, Jasmeet and Maneet co-founded SOCH Mental Health offering their first workshop in April of 2015. SOCH is a community mental health initiative aimed at breaking the silence about mental health in South Asian families.
