Aafreen Hassan, Diabetes Nursing Interest Group Scholarship

Aafreen Hassan recognizes the climbing rates of people living with diabetes, so has focused her nursing work in diabetes prevention.

She strongly believes that efforts towards disease prevention and health promotion can ease the burden on the health care system, while creating well-informed consumers of health care services in Canada. Aafreen is participating in a collaborative program to develop diabetes screening tool specific to South Asians living in Canada to South Asians living in Canada. She is heavily involved in program development work for planning, delivering, and evaluating cultural sensitive workshops to the population she serves. Through her MN Program at University of Toronto, Aafreen aims to emerge as a leader in chronic disease management and prevention.
