Birgit Umaigba-Omoruyi is an award-winning Registered Nurse, a PhD student at Queen’s University, and a leading advocate for health equity in Canada. Her research focuses on Black maternal health, examining systemic inequities and their impact on Black women’s experiences. With over a decade of experience in nursing, Umaigba-Omoruyi is dedicated to creating an anti-racist health care system. Her work has been featured in outlets like the Toronto Star and Forbes. Named one of Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch in 2024, she continues to inspire change through research and advocacy.
